O objetivo foi determinar a produtividade (P) e a eficiência (E) da água (A) utilizada na produção de leite bovino, tanto em termos físicos (F), como económicos (E) e sociais (S) no Distrito de Desenvolvimento Rural (RDD) Laguna-Coahuila, México, em efectivos leiteiros de baixa (LRV) e alta produção (HRV), utilizando uma metodologia económica baseada na utilização de equações matemáticas alimentadas com dados à escala comercial. Os resultados, para ambos os tipos de efectivos leiteiros, na mesma ordem, mostraram os seguintes índices: PFA 0,385 e 0,6864 litros de leite por m3 de água, PEA teve USD 12.731 e USD 22.698 de lucro por hm3 de água, PSA foi o mesmo índice em ambos os efectivos 1.059 Empregos por hm3, seus inversos, os índices de eficiência da água utilizada na produção, foram os seguintes: 2.600 e 1.459 litros de água por litro de leite na AAE, enquanto que na AEA foram 78,55 e 44,06 m3 para cada USD de lucro, e na PSA foi o mesmo indicador 944,273 m3 para cada emprego gerado.
