L’obiettivo di questo lavoro è cercare di capire e spiegare come la valutazione esterna determini le pratiche di insegnamento degli insegnanti terminali. A tal fine, abbiamo osservato le pratiche effettive di questi insegnanti in situazioni didattiche (in classe) e li abbiamo intervistati per conoscere il loro pensiero e svelare le loro pratiche didattiche. Sulla base dei loro discorsi e delle loro pratiche di insegnamento e valutazione, abbiamo evidenziato alcune interferenze tra gli obiettivi pedagogici e amministrativi dell’esame nazionale; gli insegnanti hanno attribuito significati diversi ai risultati di questo esame, in quanto per alcuni non erano credibili; hanno proceduto a formare gli studenti per l’esame nazionale attraverso una maggiore trasmissione di conoscenze cognitive e metodologiche utili per l’esame, in modo che la valutazione in classe fosse solo una sorta di collocazione degli studenti in situazioni simili a quelle dell’esame nazionale.
