Süßkartoffeln spielen eine wichtige Rolle bei der Verbesserung der Ernährungssicherheit und des Einkommens armer Bauern in Bangladesch. Süßkartoffeln werden hauptsächlich in den Randgebieten Bangladeschs in der Zeit von Oktober bis Februar angebaut. Sie werden in verschiedenen Formen verzehrt, z. B. gekocht, frittiert und geröstet. Manchmal werden sie auch als Gemüse in Curry gegessen. Die Wertschöpfungskette von Süßkartoffeln ist in Bangladesch nicht gut organisiert. Diese Studie wurde durchgeführt, um die bestehende Wertschöpfungskette von Süßkartoffeln in zwei ausgewählten Distrikten Bangladeschs zu analysieren. Die Stichproben wurden nach dem Quotenverfahren ausgewählt und die Primärdaten wurden durch Einzelinterviews (II), Interviews mit Schlüsselinformanten (KII) und Fokusgruppendiskussionen (FGD) unter Verwendung strukturierter, offener und geschlossener Fragebögen und Checklisten erhoben. Zur Analyse der Daten wurden einfache deskriptive Statistiken verwendet. Die wichtigsten Akteure in der Wertschöpfungskette für Süßkartoffeln sind Inputverkäufer, Landwirte, lokale Händler, Einzelhändler und Verbraucher.
