This work stems from the expansion of a study dedicated to the relationship between project management in the public sector and the involvement of social work. The original article already argued that project management can contribute to the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of government initiatives, whilst also highlighting the social worker’s contribution to the critical analysis of social needs and the defence of rights. The present version expands on this central theme to form a more comprehensive discussion, organised into chapters, tables and a proposed integrated model. The decision to expand the text into book form does not mean abandoning its academic identity. On the contrary, the aim is to explore the concepts in greater depth, clarify the relationships between management and professional practice, and offer the reader a coherent overview of the different phases of a public project. The focus remains on the understanding that management tools take on specific significance when used in institutions responsible for rights, social policies and public services.
