Sieć dróg leśnych stanowi podstawę całej działalności, ale drogi leśne są jedną z głównych przyczyn erozji i zamulenia cieków wodnych w lasach plantacyjnych, ponieważ sprzyjają one usuwaniu pokrywy roślinnej, przemieszczaniu gleby i zagęszczaniu jej podłoża, co sprawia, że drogi te są podatne na erozję spowodowaną opadami deszczu. Do dziś, pomimo wielkich zmian technologicznych, jakie zaszły w leśnictwie, oraz znaczenia transportu dla przedsiębiorstw leśnych, niewiele jest prac poświęconych optymalizacji transportu drewna, zwłaszcza w odniesieniu do kwestii erozji. Ponadto dostępne narzędzia okazały się nieskuteczne w zastosowaniu w konkretnych sytuacjach poza miejscem, w którym zostały opracowane. Ogólnym celem niniejszej pracy było opracowanie kryterium identyfikacji ryzyka erozji na drogach leśnych w oparciu o czynnik topograficzny LS, który uwzględnia nachylenie i długość ramp.
