Este trabalho inclui o desenvolvimento do ensino técnico desde o início, em 1928, até à fusão das duas disciplinas. São definidos os fundamentos teóricos da eletrotecnica e explicada a história da eletricidade, bem como o seu impacto na sociedade. A aplicação prática deste tema nas aulas de trabalhos manuais também é descrita. Através de uma investigação qualitativa, foi possível constatar que os conteúdos de eletrotécnica estão a ser cada vez mais omitidos devido à fusão das duas disciplinas. Apenas uma peça é produzida por ano letivo no 7.º e 8.º anos e o interesse das crianças por este tema é descrito como constante, apesar de a eletrotécnica estar a ganhar cada vez mais importância.
