Die zur Identifizierung von Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.ciceri verwendeten Primer waren ISSR (GA)8YT, (ATG)6, (GA)8T) und RAPD, OPA13, OPA18 und OPB14. Die für die Untersuchungen ausgewählten Ethnien waren Type Race-1 (Hyderabad und Akola), Type Race-2, (Kanpur), Type Race-3, (Gurdaspur) und Type Race-4 (New Delhi und Jabalpur). Diese Primer zeigten monomorphe Banden, die für die Entwicklung von SCAR-Markern (Sequence Characterized Amplified Regions) zur Identifizierung von Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.ciceri verwendet werden können. Die Amplikongröße 600 bp (ATG)6, 700 bp (GA) 8YT und 650 bp von ISSR und 750 bp (OPA18), 1,4 kb (OPB14), 1500 und 800 bp von OPA 13 wurden eluiert, isoliert, bestätigt und sequenziert. Die Primer wurden anhand der sequenzierten Informationen dieser beiden Fragmente mit Hilfe der Primer 3-Software entworfen und es wurden mutmaßliche SCAR-Marker entwickelt. Die Ethnien 1 und 4 wiesen ähnliche Virulenzmuster auf Kichererbsen-Differenzialpflanzen auf.
