Les directions scolaires sont confrontées à un défi de taille : d’une part, elles doivent mettre en œuvre les directives en matière de politique éducative, telles que la gestion de la qualité (SQA), le concept de la nouvelle école secondaire, etc. ; d’autre part, elles doivent veiller au développement continu de l’école. De nombreuses études sur l’efficacité et le développement scolaire démontrent l’effet positif des communautés d’apprentissage professionnelles sur le développement de l’enseignement et du personnel dans les écoles. Elles sont donc considérées comme un moteur du développement scolaire et de la qualité, c’est pourquoi leur introduction dans les écoles est jugée utile. Ce travail de recherche vise à déterminer les conditions favorables et défavorables à la mise en œuvre et au développement de communautés d’apprentissage professionnelles du point de vue des directions d’école et des enseignants. L’accent est mis sur l’importance de la direction de l’école dans ce processus. Dans le cadre de cette étude qualitative, des entretiens ont été menés avec des directions d’école et des enseignants. Les résultats obtenus ont été mis en relation avec les connaissances théoriques, ce qui a permis de définir des mesures et des recommandations d’action à l’intention des directions d’école pour la mise en place et le développement de communautés d’apprentissage professionnelles.
