Cet ouvrage est une compilation exhaustive des maladies post-récolte susceptibles d’affecter les papayes pendant leur stockage. La papaye est un fruit tropical climactérique qui subit d’énormes pertes post-récolte pendant son stockage. Les principaux agents pathogènes sont les champignons et les insectes. Divers moyens physiques et chimiques sont utilisés pour gérer ces pertes de différentes manières. Mais ces moyens ne sont pas envisageables dans les pays en développement qui disposent de mauvaises installations de gestion des denrées périssables. Ainsi, des pesticides durables à base de plantes indigènes remplacent les produits chimiques coûteux et dangereux pour la santé. Les biopesticides sont bon marché, indigènes, durables, biodégradables, faciles à utiliser et à stocker, et présentent un risque minimal pour la santé humaine. Les produits botaniques sont donc les pesticides de l’avenir.
