La différenciation pédagogique se présente comme l’ensemble des dispositions que peut mettre en place un enseignant en vue de tenir compte des différences entre les élèves. Issue de la massification de l’enseignement, elle constitue une des réponses à la gestion de l’hétérogénéité, considérée comme le symbole des difficultés actuelles de l’enseignement.En 2022, seulement 23% des enseignants du premier degré s’estiment être bien préparés sur cet aspect de leur métier, et cela se concrétise en un ensemble de pratiques non défini dont les effets ne sont pas nécessairement positifs sur les apprentissages.La gestion de l’hétérogénéité par la différenciation pédagogique est donc un enjeu important. Dans cette visée, cette recherche a été menée auprès de 6 enseignants du premier degré exerçant en réseau d’éducation prioritaire renforcé dans le but d’étudier les liens entre la représentation de l’hétérogénéité des élèves avec la conception de la différenciation pédagogique. Cet ouvrage présente les bases théoriques de la différenciation pédagogique, la méthodologie de l’enquête qualitative ainsi que les résultats éprouvés et les pistes de réflexion qui en découlent.
