Głównym celem niniejszej pracy jest określenie składu chemicznego olejku eterycznego (OE) pozyskanego z Schinus molle (fałszywy pieprz) oraz ocena jego działania owadobójczego, przeciwutleniającego i przeciwbakteryjnego.Wydajność EO z Schinus molle wynosi średnio 2,64% suchej masy. Jej skład chemiczny wskazuje na obecność 97 związków. Testy toksykologiczne wykazały działanie owadobójcze tego OE wobec jednego gatunku komara oraz dwóch gatunków szkodników produktów spożywczych przechowywanych w magazynach. Ponadto test odstraszający pozwolił wykazać działanie odstraszające tego preparatu w stosunku do Sitophilus granarius i Rhyzopertha dominica. Olejek ten wykazuje silne działanie przeciwutleniające oraz działanie przeciwbakteryjne, przetestowane na czterech szczepach bakterii i jednym szczepie grzyba.
