W celu ograniczenia wpływu produktów syntetycznych na środowisko naturalne zbadano potencjał owadobójczy zielonych owoców papryki Macaco frakcjonowanych w rozpuszczalnikach o rosnącej polarności. Były to: heksan, eter etylowy i 70% etanol. Ekstrakty zostały przygotowane na podstawie ekstrakcji suszonych owoców w każdym rozpuszczalniku. Pięć dawek (10 mg, 20 mg, 50 mg, 150 mg i 250 mg) dodano do 100 g sztucznej diety Bowling i podano larwom omacnicy prosowianki. Zastosowano całkowicie losowy układ eksperymentalny, a zabiegi analizowano za pomocą testu Kruskala-Wallisa. Kontrolą była dieta Bowlinga bez ekstraktu. Każdy zabieg składał się z jednej dawki ekstraktu z nasion lub miąższu, z pięcioma powtórzeniami, po cztery partie każdy. Wyniki potwierdziły działanie owadobójcze badanej rośliny.
