Este estudo explora as potencialidades e limitações da utilização do ChatGPT na aprendizagem do árabe como língua estrangeira. Utilizando uma abordagem descritiva, o artigo apresenta teorias e metodologias relativas à aplicação do ChatGPT na aprendizagem de línguas, particularmente no contexto do árabe como língua estrangeira. Identifica também as principais limitações que os aprendentes devem ter em conta para utilizar esta ferramenta de forma eficaz e adequada. Os resultados sugerem que o ChatGPT pode servir como um 'aluno inteligente' e um 'parceiro de aprendizagem' para os aprendentes de árabe. Nestas funções, o ChatGPT pode ajudar os alunos nas suas tarefas, criar um ambiente de aprendizagem flexível e personalizado e melhorar a sua proficiência linguística. No entanto, o estudo também aponta para a necessidade de ter cuidado com os aspectos éticos e as limitações tecnológicas do ChatGPT. Os alunos devem aderir à integridade académica e evitar a dependência excessiva do ChatGPT, uma vez que o excesso de dependência pode afetar negativamente o seu pensamento crítico, empenho e motivação para aprender.
