Diese Studie untersucht das Potenzial und die Grenzen der Verwendung von ChatGPT beim Lernen von Arabisch als Fremdsprache. Unter Verwendung eines deskriptiven Ansatzes werden Theorien und Methoden bezüglich der Anwendung von ChatGPT beim Sprachenlernen, insbesondere im Kontext von Arabisch als Fremdsprache, vorgestellt. Außerdem werden die wichtigsten Einschränkungen aufgezeigt, die Lernende beachten sollten, um dieses Tool effektiv und angemessen zu nutzen. Die Ergebnisse deuten darauf hin, dass ChatGPT als 'intelligenter Student' und 'Lernpartner' für Arabischlernende dienen kann. In diesen Rollen kann ChatGPT den Lernenden bei ihren Aufgaben helfen, eine flexible und personalisierte Lernumgebung schaffen und ihre Sprachkenntnisse verbessern. Die Studie weist jedoch auch darauf hin, dass hinsichtlich der ethischen Aspekte und technologischen Grenzen von ChatGPT Vorsicht geboten ist. Die Lernenden müssen sich an die akademische Integrität halten und ein übermäßiges Vertrauen in ChatGPT vermeiden, da sich eine zu große Abhängigkeit negativ auf ihr kritisches Denken, ihr Engagement und ihre Lernmotivation auswirken könnte.
