The issue of solid waste management, due to its importance, has been gaining ground in the classroom and is the subject of debates and creative actions by primary and secondary school students. Practical lessons are great tools for stimulating learning and creativity, putting students’ protagonism into action by seeking innovative solutions to improve the socio-environmental context in which they live. This book reports on the research project carried out by students serving socio-educational sentences at the CASA Foundation (CASA Araçá). The challenge was to find a way of reusing leftover school chalk, turning rubbish into raw material.
