L’incidenza stagionale ha rivelato che la popolazione del parassita variava da 0,51 a 3,20 larve/pianta, mentre il danno ai baccelli andava dall’8,93 al 36,26%. Il coefficiente di correlazione della popolazione larvale di M. testulalis sul grano verde a Junagadh è risultato significativamente positivo con la temperatura massima (r= 0,675*) e significativamente negativo con la velocità del vento (r= -0,669*). Mentre, per quanto riguarda i danni ai baccelli (%), è stata riscontrata una correlazione positiva altamente significativa con la temperatura massima (r= 0,747**), una correlazione positiva significativa con il sole splendente (r= 0,687*) e una correlazione negativa significativa con la velocità del vento (r= -0,695*).Lo screening in campo di dieci varietà/genotipi di grano verde contro la piralide ha rivelato che il numero più basso di larve e di danni ai baccelli è stato riscontrato in Meha (0,92 larve/pianta e 9,28% di danni), emerso come resistente. Mentre K 851 è risultato altamente suscettibile, registrando 3,42 larve/pianta e il 33,26% di danni ai baccelli.Si conclude che la piralide dei baccelli, M. testulalis, ha raggiunto il picco soprattutto nella terza settimana di ottobre ed è stata gestita efficacemente con l’applicazione di broflanilide 300 g/l SC o spinetoram 11,7 SC durante il Kharif nel grano verde.
