Quatro espécies diferentes de golfinhos são conhecidas por estarem associadas a cardumes de atum albacora ao longo do Oceano Pacífico Oriental, tais como o golfinho-pintado, o golfinho-rotador, o golfinho-rotador-de-barriga-branca e o golfinho-comum. A partir de mais de 14 000 capturas realizadas pela frota mexicana de redes de cerco, essa interação foi analisada utilizando diferentes abordagens: uma univariada (ANOVA fatorial), multivariada (Análise de Componentes Principais) e as probabilidades condicionais do grupo; a variação ambiental e a influência sobre as capturas em 1998, 2001, 2002, 2005 e 2006.
