O estudo procurou desenvolver um modelo estrutural sobre os atributos demográficos, os factores psicossociais e os procedimentos de instrução das competências dos alunos em TLE. Este estudo foi efectuado nas nove divisões da Região X, identificadas através de uma amostragem aleatória simples. Os atributos demográficos dos estudantes implicam que a maioria dos estudantes tem 15 anos de idade e que o género feminino predomina em número. Os factores psicossociais dos estudantes parecem ser satisfatórios em termos das suas atitudes em relação à tecnologia, hábitos de estudo e auto-eficácia, o que lhes desperta um grande interesse pela tecnologia e pela educação para os meios de subsistência. Os alunos observaram os procedimentos de instrução na maioria das ocasiões, o que indica que esses procedimentos lhes permitem atingir os objectivos da tecnologia. As competências dos alunos emergiram como altamente competentes em todas as vertentes, o que lhes proporcionou preparação para um emprego remunerado no futuro e competências de nível de entrada no emprego em termos de serviços domésticos, artesanato, desenho, eletricidade e tecnologia de comunicação da informação (TIC).
