Po rozważaniach metodologicznych opartych na epistemologii i hermeneutyce oraz po wprowadzeniu dyskursu transdyscyplinarności wraz z jego manifestami, debatami i krytyką, dokładnie rozważono szersze tło filozoficzne na dwóch meta-poziomach: „myślenia radykalnego' i „myślenia słabego'. Na tym poziomie dyskursywnym główny rozdział proponuje mediację między tradycyjnymi konfliktami w teorii architektury: podmiot a przedmiot, tradycja a nowoczesność, awangarda a tylna straż, semantyka a składnia, globalność a lokalność, uwodzenie a opór, powierzchnia a struktura, koncepcja a zmysły, racjonalność a irracjonalność oraz rzeczywistość a wirtualność. Wreszcie trzy przykłady transdyscyplinarności architektonicznej oferują sugestie dotyczące odnowionych zasad w edukacji architektonicznej, artykułując szersze horyzonty zrozumienia, pojednania między różnymi przekonaniami, twórczego napięcia, integracji między formą a treścią oraz modelu wiedzy bez centrum.
