W niniejszej pracy literaturowej na początku wprowadzono podstawowe pojęcia tolerancji i uprzedzeń; pojęcie uprzedzeń jest używane jako synonim nietolerancji. Następnie nawiązano do związku między nietolerancyjnymi, rasistowskimi działaniami w społeczeństwie a podstawowymi wartościami i zasadami działania pracy socjalnej. Na tej podstawie wywnioskowano odpowiedzialność pracy socjalnej w ogóle, a w szczególności SKA, za wspomniany problem. Nietolerancyjne, rasistowskie zachowania są wynikiem praktyk i struktur społecznych. Tolerancja jest jedną z trzech podstawowych wartości instrumentalnych w teorii struktury modalnej według Husi. Realizacja tych wartości ostatecznie prowadzi do większego zaangażowania wszystkich. Promowanie zaangażowania powoduje w społeczeństwie spadek nietolerancji lub rasizmu, a jednocześnie prowadzi do wzrostu tolerancji. Teoria struktury modalnej stanowi w niniejszej pracy podstawę strukturalną dla wyjaśnień zachowań rasistowskich w kontekście społecznym oraz dla wymienionych na końcu ukierunkowanych interwencji specjalistów SKA.
