This book is the outcome of a research study conducted on the Chief Minister’s Solar Powered Green House Scheme that was launched in the state of Tamil Nadu to provide basic housing infrastructure with solar lighting facility to rural poor. Climate change being one of the greatest challenges and a threat confronting the economies of the world today, many countries have turned their focus towards green initiatives and have been rapidly progressing in technologies to harness solar power. Solar projects are being implemented on a massive scale across the world and it is essential to ensure that these investments are effective and efficient. The Solar Green House Scheme is a comprehensive scheme targeted at providing housing facility with sanitation and solar lighting to the rural poor. The performance of the scheme has been assessed applying a post occupancy evaluation based on beneficiaries’ feedback. The outcome of the study provides important insights on various aspects that can be a guiding tool in implementing programs of such kind in future.
