O subcontinente indiano possui uma rica diversidade de fauna de quirópteros e alguns estudos foram realizados sobre a diversidade da fauna de quirópteros indiana. Assim, os objetivos foram avaliar a diversidade da fauna de quirópteros, a seleção de abrigos e conscientizar as pessoas sobre a conservação dos morcegos em Uttar Pradesh. Durante o levantamento de campo, foram observadas um total de onze espécies de morcegos, sendo três delas frugívoras, como Pteropus giganteus, Rousettus leschenaulti e Cynopterus sphinx (Pteropodidae). Os morcegos pteropodídeos preferem repousar em árvores grandes, frondes, galhos e tendas modificadas, bem como em edifícios, que são estáveis e duradouros. Foram observados oito morcegos insetívoros durante o período do estudo, tais como Megaderma lyra (Megadermatidae), Hipposideros fulvus (Hipposideridae), Taphozous nudiventris (Emballonuridae), Rhinopoma hardwickii (Rhinopomatidae), Rhinopoma microphyllum (Rhinopomatidae), Pipistrellus coromandra (Vespertilionidae), Pipistrellus ceylonicus (Vespertilionidae) e Scotophilus heathii (Vespertilionidae). Estes morcegos ocupam principalmente cavernas, fendas, edifícios antigos abandonados e monumentos históricos, etc.
