Cette étude évalue le potentiel de stockage de carbone dans la Réserve de Biosphère de l’Arganier (RBA) au niveau de la plaine du Souss et Dir. L’analyse a porté sur deux sites (Admine et Ouameslakht), chacun divisé en trois zones : centrale, tampon et transition.À Admine, les stocks de carbone sont de 65, 50,73 et 31,63 t C/ha respectivement, sans différence significative entre zones. Pour Ouameslakht, ils atteignent 44,75, 31,84 et 19,66 t C/ha, avec des différences significatives notables.L’étude de l’occupation des sols (1998-2021) révèle que la zone centrale d’Admine a subi une régression forestière au profit du parcours, malgré les restrictions. En revanche, Ouameslakht montre une augmentation de la surface forestière grâce à une mise en défens efficace.Ces résultats soulignent l’importance d’une gestion adaptée pour optimiser la séquestration du carbone dans ces écosystèmes, tout en démontrant l’efficacité de la mise en défens comme outil de conservation.Mots clés : changements climatiques, séquestration carbone, RBA, zones centrales, dynamique d’occupation du sol, Admine, Ouameslakht.
