Niniejsze studium, oparte na feministycznej krytycznej analizie dyskursu, bada, w jaki sposób strategie językowe i retoryczne w książce Reem Bassiouny Profesor Hanaa konstruują doświadczenia bohaterki i kwestionują tradycyjne role płciowe we współczesnym społeczeństwie egipskim. Badanie to wypełnia lukę w literaturze, analizując interakcję między strukturami językowymi a procesami poznawczymi w arabskiej fikcji feministycznej, koncentrując się na tym, jak dyskurs kształtuje kobiecą podmiotowość i opór. W badaniu postawiono hipotezę, że język zarówno w narracji, jak i mowie Hanai funkcjonuje jako narzędzie zarówno dostosowywania się do patriarchalnych norm, jak i opierania się im.
