Die hier vorgestellte Arbeit ist das Ergebnis einer Literaturrecherche, die von vielen Fragen zur traditionellen Grammatik, ihrer Geschichte in den dreiundzwanzig Jahrhunderten ihres Bestehens sowie ihrer Anwendbarkeit in der Schule, insbesondere im Hinblick auf den Portugiesischunterricht, motiviert wurde. Das Ziel dieser Untersuchung ist es nicht, die Geschichte der traditionellen Grammatik zu erforschen, sondern lediglich einige wichtige Momente ihrer Geschichte und ihrer heutigen Verwendung zu schildern. Im Laufe von dreiundzwanzig Jahrhunderten hat die traditionelle Grammatik oft einen philosophischen und normativen Charakter angenommen. Es ist auch nicht das Ziel dieser Arbeit, das Studium der in unseren Schulen verwendeten normativen Grammatik zu untersuchen. Es sollen lediglich Ideen zu ihrer Verwendung vorgestellt werden, die zum Nachdenken über den Sprachunterricht in der Schule anregen sollen und eine mögliche Strategie darstellen, um den Unterricht für die Schüler sinnvoller zu gestalten.
