Lo scopo di questo studio è stato quello di confrontare l’impatto dell’istruzione potenziata dalla tecnologia rispetto all’istruzione non potenziata dalla tecnologia nel raggiungimento delle competenze matematiche da parte degli studenti di terza media. Sono state analizzate quattro domande di ricerca: in che misura c’è una differenza tra gli studenti di terza media che imparano la matematica con un software didattico e quelli che la imparano senza? Ci sono differenze tra i punteggi di guadagno dei gruppi nel test WASL Matematica pre-post? L’uso di un software didattico per la matematica migliora l’auto-percezione delle competenze matematiche degli studenti? Esistono differenze tra i punteggi di guadagno dei gruppi al pretest e al posttest sull’autopercezione dell’indagine sulle competenze matematiche? Per valutare le competenze matematiche, il ricercatore ha utilizzato un sondaggio pre-postest di 19 domande e un test di prova standardizzato WASL di 42 domande all’inizio e alla fine del periodo di studio. A questo studio hanno partecipato 41 studenti di terza media (23 femmine e 18 maschi), di età compresa tra i 13 e i 14 anni. Il disegno di ricerca ha utilizzato uno studio quasi sperimentale con un gruppo di controllo e un gruppo di trattamento.
