Le besoin croissant de riz au Nigeria continue d’être un fardeau pour le gouvernement fédéral. Alors que la date limite de 2015 pour l’interdiction totale des importations de riz approche et est dépassée, d’innombrables défis se posent toujours à la culture du riz au Nigéria. Ces défis vont de la faible variété de la culture (riz) plantée aux infrastructures inadéquates dans la zone de production. Le Nigeria est doté de riches terres agricoles estimées à environ 71,2 millions d’hectares, dont 34 millions d’hectares sont cultivés. Mais malgré tout ce potentiel, il existe un écart considérable entre l’offre et la demande estimées de denrées alimentaires. En raison de cette pénurie, le Nigeria importe les principales denrées alimentaires, dont le riz n’est pas exclu. Ces importations massives contribuent largement à tuer nos industries locales. C’est à la lumière de ce développement peu glorieux d’un besoin toujours croissant de riz que nous cherchons à étudier les défis et les perspectives de la production locale de riz d’Adani.
