Angesichts der aktuellen Umweltkrise, die unter anderem auf die nicht nachhaltige Nutzung der natürlichen Ressourcen zurückzuführen ist, sind Maßnahmen und Beiträge zu einer nachhaltigen Entwicklung notwendig. Ziel dieser Arbeit war es, die Ursachen der Walddegradation in der Gemeinde Munhino in der Gemeinde Bibala zu analysieren und auf der Grundlage wissenschaftlicher und lokaler Erkenntnisse zu einer nachhaltigen Waldbewirtschaftung beizutragen, wobei die lokale soziale und wirtschaftliche Realität berücksichtigt wurde. Das methodische Vorgehen umfasste daher Interview- und Fragebogenerhebungen, direkte Beobachtung der Situation, Interaktion mit der lokalen Bevölkerung sowie eine Literaturrecherche zum Thema (Gesetzgebung, Berichte/Informationen von lokalen Behörden, akademische Arbeiten, Zeitschriften und Dokumente von internationalen Organisationen).
