La mancanza di conoscenza dei disturbi vocali da parte degli insegnanti è spesso evidenziata nella letteratura fonoaudiologica. Gli insegnanti non identificano i problemi vocali e cercano aiuto solo quando il disturbo ha raggiunto il suo massimo grado. Obiettivo: correlare la presenza di disturbi vocali (valutazione percettiva) con i sintomi vocali auto-riferiti, le sensazioni laringofaringee e l’indice di handicap vocale negli insegnanti. Metodo: è stato condotto uno studio su 40 insegnanti (scuola materna I, II, III, primaria e secondaria) di una scuola pubblica situata nell’interno dello stato di San Paolo. I partecipanti hanno compilato il questionario Vocal Production Condition-Teacher (CPV-P) (per conoscere gli aspetti sociodemografici, i sintomi e le sensazioni laringofaringee) e il Vocal Disadvantage Index (VDI) (per conoscere l’impatto dei disturbi vocali sulla vita degli insegnanti). Dopo aver compilato i questionari, è stato prelevato un campione di voce da ciascuno dei 40 insegnanti, che è stato successivamente analizzato da giudici logopedisti. È emersa un’associazione statisticamente significativa tra la presenza di un disturbo della voce e il sintomo vocale della raucedine.
