Il fiume Nilo si estende dal lago Tanganica in Tanzania alle rive del Mar Mediterraneo in Egitto per una lunghezza di circa 6625 km. Il ramo di Damietta, uno dei due rami principali del fiume Nilo, passa in cinque governatorati per una lunghezza di circa 242 km, con una larghezza media di 200 m e una profondità che varia tra 12 e 20 m. Ha una grande importanza vitale, poiché serve come fonte d’acqua per usi municipali, industriali, agricoli e per la navigazione. Questo libro presenta i tipi di acque reflue che solitamente defluiscono nel Ramo di Damietta e i successivi cambiamenti della vegetazione lungo il Ramo di Damietta del fiume Nilo. Le variazioni dei sedimenti e dei fattori idrici e l’accertamento del grado di correlazione tra queste variabili permettono di determinare i fattori che controllano la distribuzione e l’abbondanza delle comunità vegetali nel ramo di Damietta.
