Les documents pédagogiques des années 1990 se sont orientés vers la pratique de la recherche dans les dernières années de l’enseignement primaire et secondaire, en partant du principe qu’il est nécessaire de rompre avec le modèle traditionnel de l’enseignement, avec le rôle de l’enseignant en tant que transmetteur de connaissances. Accumuler des connaissances ne prépare pas les élèves aux changements rapides que connaît la société. Ce qui compte, c’est d’apprendre aux élèves à apprendre à apprendre. Ainsi, la recherche est désormais considérée comme une pratique permettant aux étudiants de construire leurs propres connaissances, d’être les protagonistes de leur apprentissage ; l’enseignant est un facilitateur au cours du processus d’investigation. L’objectif de cet ouvrage est de présenter des productions académiques issues de programmes de troisième cycle stricto sensu au Brésil entre 2004 et 2011, et plus particulièrement d’identifier et d’analyser les conceptions des enseignants dans ces travaux, ainsi que de connaître et d’analyser l’approche donnée à la pratique de la recherche à ces niveaux d’enseignement.
