Questo articolo analizza la percezione degli insegnanti sull’uso degli esperimenti per ottimizzare l’insegnamento della chimica. Gli obiettivi sono: a) sistematizzare le conoscenze sulla sperimentazione nell’insegnamento della chimica come compito pedagogico per gli insegnanti; b) scoprire cosa fanno gli insegnanti e cosa pensano di ciò che fanno, in relazione agli esperimenti per insegnare le conoscenze chimiche. La metodologia di ricerca è descrittiva e qualitativa, con l’utilizzo dell’osservazione, effettuata durante il periodo di stage-ricerca, e di interviste come tecniche di raccolta dei dati. I soggetti della ricerca erano quattro insegnanti responsabili dell’insegnamento della chimica in una delle scuole pubbliche di Manaus, due dei quali laureati in chimica, uno in scienze naturali e un altro in fisica, che lavoravano nel nono anno della scuola primaria e nei tre gradi della scuola secondaria. Dalla ricerca è emerso che la sperimentazione è un metodo che attira l’attenzione degli studenti, le cui esperienze vengono messe a disposizione degli insegnanti affinché le applichino con gli studenti, favorendo lo sviluppo delle potenzialità.
