Vor dem Hintergrund zunehmender Proteste gegen Großprojekte und einer von einigen Vertretern aus Politik, Wirtschaft und Medien postulierten Industriefeindlichkeit in der deutschen Bevölkerung untersucht Anna-Lena Schönauer, welche Einstellung und Akzeptanz zur Industrie und zu industriellen Großanlagen tatsächlich vorherrschen. Ihre empirischen Ergebnisse belegen eine vornehmlich positive Wahrnehmung der Industrie und der wirtschaftlichen Bedeutung des industriellen Sektors in Deutschland. Ebenso kann sie aufzuzeigen, dass die Ablehnung von Großprojekten kein spezifisches Charakteristikum industrieller Großanlagen darstellt, wenngleich Großprojekte vor der eigenen Haustür zumeist auf wenig Akzeptanz stoßen.
