Le bassin du Gange, du Brahmapoutre et de la Meghna (GBM) est considéré comme le plus vulnérable au changement climatique. Il est également reconnu comme l’une des zones les plus exposées aux risques naturels liés à l’eau, aux inondations et aux sécheresses, qui menacent chaque année un grand nombre de personnes. L’étude présentée dans ce livre a pour but d’acquérir des informations pertinentes pour l’adaptation au changement climatique ainsi que pour la gestion locale des ressources en eau afin d’assurer la durabilité de la région. Un modèle hydrologique distribué à grande échelle, H08, a été utilisé pour évaluer les impacts du changement climatique sur l’hydrologie à l’échelle du bassin, y compris le ruissellement, l’évapotranspiration, le rayonnement net et l’humidité du sol, en utilisant les MCG CMIP5 avec un scénario d’émissions élevées à travers 3 expériences de tranches temporelles : le présent (1979-2003), le futur proche (2015-2039) et le futur lointain (2075-2099). Les informations obtenues contribueront à la gestion directe des ressources en eau dans le bassin et à l’amélioration de la conception des mesures d’adaptation. Les résultats peuvent également être pris en compte pour la gestion des risques, la planification de la prévention, l’atténuation des risques de catastrophe et la formulation de politiques pour le développement futur des ressources en eau.
