Marrocos enfrenta uma emigração significativa de profissionais altamente qualificados, em especial médicos e engenheiros informáticos, com impactos importantes nos sectores da saúde e da tecnologia. A emigração de médicos está a provocar uma escassez de pessoal médico, a falta de pessoal nos hospitais e uma diminuição da qualidade dos cuidados de saúde. Do mesmo modo, o êxodo de engenheiros informáticos está a reduzir as competências locais e a afetar a competitividade do país. Este livro analisa as motivações destes profissionais para abandonar Marrocos, através de inquéritos sobre as oportunidades profissionais, as condições de trabalho, a remuneração, a qualidade de vida e as perspectivas de carreira. Através de uma análise fatorial de correspondência, foram identificados os principais factores de emigração: melhores perspectivas profissionais, condições de trabalho mais favoráveis, salários mais elevados e melhor qualidade de vida. Os resultados evidenciam as consequências desta emigração na escassez de profissionais e na perda de capital intelectual, e sugerem formas de desenvolver políticas destinadas a reter este talento.
