Gwałtowny wzrost liczby samochodów doprowadził do poważnych problemów środowiskowych, w szczególności zanieczyszczenia spalinami samochodowymi. Badania mają na celu katalityczną degradację spalin samochodowych poprzez nawierzchnię asfaltową, zmniejszając ryzyko dla zdrowia związane z emisjami spalin samochodowych i łagodząc zanieczyszczenie środowiska. Badanie to stanowi cenne źródło informacji dla przyszłych badań w tej dziedzinie.
