This inspiring memoir by 90-year-old Joy Elise Fox poignantly recounts her childhood before, during, and after WWII, demonstrating the profound strength of hope and resilience.Joy was only four years old when the war broke out, and she shares her journey until she was 23, when her family emigrated from England to Canada in 1958. This book is dedicated to her mother, who was abandoned by her husband just before the war. Joy’s story captures her unimaginable hardships-the destruction of her home by bombs, relentless upheaval as a child evacuee, living in nine different places, crushing poverty, and bleak shelters.Yet, despite these challenges, Joy’s hope remained unbroken, fuelling an indomitable spirit that propelled her to become a pioneering entrepreneur at a time when women rarely led businesses. Joy’s life message of courage and perseverance will inspire readers to believe in the transformative power of hope and to discover the inner strength within us all.
