L’agriculture soutenue par la communauté, ou ASC, est un type de développement agricole différent qui vise à produire des produits biologiques, durables et cultivés localement, tout en renforçant les liens entre les consommateurs et les producteurs. Gartencoop, à Fribourg, est une organisation CSA créée en 2011 et qui compte 250 membres. Gartencoop vise à développer un sentiment de communauté à travers le concept d’ économie solidaire en cultivant des légumes de manière durable et respectueuse du climat, puis en les distribuant localement à ses membres. Les membres de Gartencoop doivent contribuer non seulement financièrement, mais aussi en participant aux activités agricoles et de distribution. En raison des niveaux d’engagement et d’implication fluctuants constatés par les organisateurs de Gartencoop, les facteurs spécifiques qui motivent les membres à participer aux activités agricoles feront l’objet de cette thèse de master.
