As conversas entre professores têm mudado ao longo do tempo, influenciadas pelas políticas e práticas educativas, por um lado, e pela intensificação da administração, por outro. As conversas parecem estar cada vez mais associadas à gestão da avaliação, às normas profissionais e à normalização, ao desenvolvimento organizacional e às medidas de performatividade. Estas mudanças mais amplas no contexto educativo têm impacto nas experiências de conversação dos professores com os seus colegas; experiências que parecem ser largamente ignoradas. Esta investigação fenomenológica hermenêutica explorou a natureza experiencial e ontológica das experiências vividas pelos professores e as suas formas de estar em conversação no contexto do ensino secundário australiano. A investigação revelou uma série de temas fenomenológicos que foram descritos e interpretados com base nos escritos de filósofos existenciais, nomeadamente Heidegger e Gadamer, entre outros. A investigação revelou uma série de entendimentos ontológicos importantes para o contexto atual e que poderão ser de grande interesse para os profissionais e os decisores políticos.
