Le millet perlé, une culture céréalière cruciale, souffre de diverses maladies, dont la pyriculariose, qui affecte la qualité du fourrage et la production. La maladie entraîne des pertes économiques et la dévastation de la culture. Des recherches ont été menées à l’Université agricole de Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada pour comprendre les facteurs tels que la gamme d’hôtes, la source de résistance, les conditions environnementales et la gestion des cultures. L’étude a révélé que P. grisea peut produire la plus forte intensité de pyriculariose sur les hôtes de l’orge après sept, quatorze et vingt-et-un jours d’inoculation. L’hôte suivant était le napier, mais P. grisea n’était pas capable d’infecter les hôtes du sorgho même vingt jours après l’inoculation. L’étude a également montré que l’intensité minimale de la pyriculariose était de 63,27 % en juillet et que l’intensité maximale était de 72,49 % en juillet. L’étude a également montré que les facteurs météorologiques avaient des effets différents sur la progression de la pyriculariose, l’intensité minimale de la maladie étant de 19,22 % et la réduction la plus importante étant enregistrée avec le tricyclazole.
