O milho-miúdo, uma cultura cerealífera crucial, sofre de várias doenças, incluindo a explosão, que afecta a qualidade e a produção de forragem. A doença causa perdas económicas e devastação da cultura. Foram conduzidas investigações na Universidade Agrícola de Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada para compreender factores como a gama de hospedeiros, a fonte de resistência, as condições ambientais e a gestão das culturas. O estudo revelou que P. grisea pode produzir a maior intensidade de doença por explosão em hospedeiros de cevada após sete, catorze e vinte e um dias de inoculação. O hospedeiro seguinte foi o capim napier, mas P. grisea não foi capaz de infetar hospedeiros de sorgo mesmo vinte dias após a inoculação. O estudo também constatou que a intensidade mínima da doença da explosão foi de 63,27% em julho, e a máxima foi de 72,49% em julho. O estudo também constatou que os factores meteorológicos tinham efeitos diferentes no progresso da doença do míldio, com a intensidade mínima da doença de 19,22% e a maior redução registada pelo triciclazol.
