A ideia deste livro é demonstrar, de forma clara e objetiva, algumas metodologias utilizadas para a condução de estudos e aulas que visam abordar as diferentes temáticas da Ecologia Florestal, como análises de planta, água e solo. Dentro do curso de Engenharia Florestal a Ecologia Florestal é uma ciência que deve ser aplicada na prática, mediante atividades desenvolvidas a campo. Muitas vezes, o ensino consiste apenas nas metodologias dialogadas e/ou expositivas, sem contemplar as possibilidades de exercícios que podem ser realizados fora do ambiente de sala de aula e, que podem ser integrados à produção de conhecimento através da pesquisa científica.A proposta deste livro é a de apresentar metodologias de coleta de dados, que também podem ser aplicadas no processo de ensino-aprendizagem de Ecologia Florestal. As metodologias que serão abordadas neste livro são baseadas nas experiências desenvolvidas e aprimoradas durante mais de 20 anos pela equipe do Laboratório de Ecologia Florestal da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil.
