The characteristics of androcentric analysis in modern science and gender relations in universities stimulate important critical categories of analysis in the production of knowledge. The exclusion of women from legitimate knowledge presents an exclusionary view of women, denying them access to the production and appropriation of scientific knowledge in line with their knowledge. The proposal to study and understand the inclusion of the population, especially women, in universities based on bibliographic and documentary research led us to analyse this inclusion. The myth maintained for centuries that women were not entitled to access socially legitimised knowledge, ’keeping them in the role of wives and mothers’, deepened gender inequalities for many decades. It is therefore necessary to discuss gender distribution in university courses, education and knowledge, not with the aim of redemption, but with a commitment to educational and social development.
