Der Bau von Dämmen, Landwirtschaft, Viehweiden, Holzeinschlag, Bergbau, Erholung, Urbanisierung, Überschwemmungen, Klimawandel und Waldbrände sind für die rasche Veränderung des Lebensraums von Zugvögeln verantwortlich, was zum Verlust oder zur Einführung exotischer Pflanzenarten, zur übermäßigen Verallgemeinerung der einheimischen Ufervegetation, zum Rückgang und zur Gefährdung von Zugvögeln in der globalen Landschaft führt. Zusätzliche Anstrengungen zum Schutz, zur Wiederherstellung und zur Kontrolle der einzigartigen Vielfalt des Bio-Netzwerks weltweit hängen von einem besseren Verständnis der primären physikalischen und biologischen Prozesse ab, die diese einzigartige Vielfalt in großem Maßstab umgeben und erhalten, um den Schutz für noch ungeborene Generationen zu verbessern, da das globale Bio-Netzwerk an Flussufern vielfältige Vogelarten beherbergt und somit ein ausgezeichneter Indikator für die biologische Vielfalt ist.
