L’esperimento è stato progettato per misurare l’effetto dei programmi di scurimento sui tassi di crescita e su alcuni parametri ematici dei pulcini da carne. Seicento pulcini Ross308 con la fascia alare a 1 giorno di vita sono stati suddivisi in quattro gruppi di pista , ciascuno con 3 repliche. I pulcini sono stati allevati su lettiera di terra contenente segatura. I pulcini sono stati sottoposti a quattro programmi di buio: Trattamento 1, servito come controllo (24 luce + zero buio), Trattamento 2 (18 L + 6 D continua quando i pulcini sono arrivati a 150 g), Trattamento 3 (1 ora di buio al 2° giorno, 2 ore di buio all’inizio della 2° settimana, 3 ore di buio all’inizio della 3° settimana, 4 ore di buio all’inizio della 4° settimana e 5 ore di buio all’inizio della 3° settimana) .4a settimana e 5 ore di buio all’inizio della 5a settimana) e il Trattamento 4 (1 ora di buio dal 4° giorno al 7° giorno, 4 ore di buio dall’8° giorno al 14° giorno e 6 ore di buio dal 15° giorno al30° giorno)15° giorno fino al 30° giorno). I risultati hanno indicato che l’effetto positivo del programma di oscuramento utilizzato nel percorso sperimentale è il trattamento 4.
