Questo studio mirava a valutare l’impatto della gestione forestale rispetto alla rigenerazione naturale sull’avifauna in un parco nazionale dopo una grande tempesta causata dall’uragano Kyrill il 18/19 gennaio 2007. La composizione delle specie di uccelli è stata valutata utilizzando conteggi puntuali standardizzati su 1 ettaro in tre diversi tipi di habitat: (1) abbattimento naturale (lasciato indisturbato per una rigenerazione senza ostacoli), (2) abbattimento gestito (rimozione di tutti gli alberi spezzati, caduti e inclinati) e (3) foresta di alta montagna indisturbata (non colpita dalla tempesta di vento). Durante i cinque periodi di osservazione nella primavera del 2010 sono state registrate 30 specie di uccelli per un totale di 742 individui. L’assemblaggio degli uccelli è stato analizzato statisticamente a livello di specie e di gilda in termini di ricchezza e abbondanza delle specie utilizzando un modello lineare generalizzato. L’analisi delle componenti principali è stata utilizzata per visualizzare la risposta della comunità degli uccelli canori.
