La tropicalisation de la mer Méditerranée désigne le processus d’établissement d’espèces allochtones provenant de zones tropicales ou subtropicales, souvent dominantes et susceptibles de supplanter les espèces indigènes préexistantes dans la région méditerranéenne. Les espèces exotiques peuvent également entrer en compétition pour la conquête de nourriture et de territoires, altérant ainsi l’équilibre naturel et entraînant une réduction de la biodiversité. Le réchauffement climatique joue un rôle crucial dans la pénétration, la propagation et l’installation d’espèces non indigènes dans la mer Méditerranée. Ce phénomène intéresse progressivement toutes les régions méditerranéennes et a de nombreuses conséquences négatives sur le secteur de la pêche en Méditerranée.
