A questão da utilização das línguas maternas na escola e ao nível da alfabetização continua a ser objeto de muitas controvérsias. Tendo em conta as posições frequentemente divergentes entre os defensores da introdução das línguas maternas na escola e aqueles que não vêem qualquer interesse nisso, o desacordo e o fosso parecem cada vez maiores. Para uma valorização efetiva das línguas da Costa do Marfim, pode-se afirmar que é mais do que tempo de passar das lamentações às ações concretas. De facto, tudo o que podia ser dito para lamentar a não utilização dessas línguas no ensino já foi dito. Foi denunciado, entre outras coisas, o direito da criança de ser educada na sua língua materna, que deve ser garantido. Tanto mais que a sua utilização desde os primeiros momentos da escolarização facilita a aquisição de conhecimentos básicos pela criança. É evidente que os juristas consideram que ensinar recorrendo às línguas da Costa do Marfim responde a um imperativo de justiça social ou, simplesmente, de justiça.
