Dorstenia ist eine Gattung aus der Familie der Moraceae, die im Volksmund unter dem Namen „carapiá' oder „caapiá' bekannt ist. Ziel war es, taxonomische und konservatorische Studien über die im Bundesstaat São Paulo vorkommenden Dorstenia durchzuführen. Diese Arbeit enthält Abbildungen und Bestimmungsschlüssel für die Arten. Die Gattung unterscheidet sich von den anderen Arten der Familie dadurch, dass sie ein Kraut mit einzigartigen Blütenständen ist, die „cenanthus' genannt werden. Weltweit gibt es etwa 150 Arten, von denen 37 in Brasilien vorkommen. Im Staat São Paulo wurden 11 Arten gefunden, von denen die meisten schattige und feuchte Standorte bewohnen.
