Il presente libro riassume le ricerche condotte per studiare l’impatto delle attività di gestione forestale congiunta (JFM) su 10 foreste naturali nell’East Godavari (foreste protette di Pothavaram, Mallavaram, Gedhada e Murari), Srikakulam (foreste protette di Burna e Baliagam), Vizayanagaram (Shikargangii RF) e Visakhapatnam (Korra, Maribanda e Darakonda RF), che coprono l’intera zona costiera settentrionale dell’Andhra Pradesh, in India. I fattori edofici e climatici di queste foreste sono diversi tra loro. Lo studio ha contribuito a identificare le specie rare e minacciate nelle foreste miste. Sulla base di ciò, è possibile adottare misure per proteggere la biodiversità. La promozione delle attività di JFM non solo migliora le foreste degradate, ma riduce anche la pressione biotica nelle aree forestali. Le attività di JFM si sono dimostrate efficaci nel migliorare la crescita e la rigenerazione delle foreste.
